Karla Bonoff
Born on December 27, 1951, Karla Bonoff is a singer-songwriter from California, who has performed as a solo artist, as a back-up vocalist and as a member of the group Bryndle.
Her songs have been covered by such top artists as Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, Wynonna Judd and Lynn Anderson. Joe Walsh, Don Henley, Timothy Schmit, Peter Frampton, Billy Payne, J.D. Souther, Russ Kunkel, Waddy Wachel, Danny Kotchmar and her old partners from Bryndle, Wendy Waldman, Andrew Gold and Kenny Edwards are just a some of the top musicians who have backed her up on her records.
Karla sang background vocals for Linda Ronstadt and Wendy Waldman before releasing her first album, titled Karla Bonoff, in 1977. Her other albums include Restless Nights, Wild Heart of the Young, New World and All My Life (her greatest hits collection).
Karla is best known as a songwriter, but she is also renowned for her hits I Can't Hold On and Personally (which became a #19 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and which reached #3 on the Adult Contemporary chart in the summer of 1982). She is also remembered for her songs Somebody's Eyes on the Footloose soundtrack and Standing Right Next To Me on the 8 Seconds soundtrack.
In September 2007 Karla released her first live album, a double CD which includes many of her best-known songs. It was recorded live in concert on October 24, 2004 in Santa Barbara, California, except for one song recorded July 30, 2005 in Japan.
