Robert Maheu
Robert Maheu
Robert Maheu, who is perhaps best known as the right hand man to Howard Hughes, was the go-between for the CIA in arranging its use of La Cosa Nostra in its plans to assassinate Cuban leader Fidel Castro, under the Eisenhower administration.
Of course, years later in the 1970's, when the House Special Committee on Assassinations had finished its work, its chairman, Robert Blakey, wrongly concluded that JFK was probably killed by the Mafia. Later he said that if he had known that the CIA had not been completely forthcoming with (had lied to) his committee, he'd have reached a different conclusion.
Robert Maheu arranged the introduction of CIA Support Chief James O'Connell to mafioso Johnny Roselli.

JFK And The Unspeakable
I've read a hundred books about the JFK presidency, his assassination, research into that event and related people. In my experience, this is the best book to date covering all of these topics.
